Biography
Dr. Abosede Oluwakemi Oduntan is an accomplished Food Technologist, Research Administrator, and Product Development Specialist with over 17 years of experience in agricultural research, food processing, postharvest technology, and institutional leadership. She is the Assistant Director and Head of the Product Development Programme at the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT), Ibadan, where she leads research, innovation, value addition, and commercialization of horticultural crops.
Dr. Oduntan has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, technical manuals, and extension materials, contributing significantly to food technology and the sustainable utilization of horticultural resources. She has successfully developed research proposals, fostered collaborations, and supported initiatives that strengthen agricultural innovation systems. Passionate about capacity building, she has trained students, farmers, processors, entrepreneurs, and extension personnel in food processing, product development, quality assurance, and agribusiness, while promoting technology adoption through workshops, demonstrations, and media engagements.
She has participated in prestigious international professional development programmes, including the Australia Awards Africa Programme, Wageningen University, and the International Centre for Development Oriented Research in Agriculture (ICRA), with specialized training in food safety, research management, proposal writing, and gender mainstreaming. Dr. Oduntan also serves in leadership roles within professional and community organizations, including as Treasurer of the Horticultural Society of Nigeria. Recognized for her integrity, innovation, and collaborative leadership, she remains committed to translating research into practical solutions that enhance food security, nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, and economic development.
